Captain Sadeian - Chapter Detail | |
| Chapter Nineteen - A London Newspaper Reports: A Battle Over the Ocean! |
|
News has reached this office of a display of aerial warfare that shall cause much discussion amongst gentleman in the city this morning. Around four o'clock in the afternoon London time yesterday, two aerial craft were seen to engage in a battle from a naval lookout station in the mediteranean. "It was like dragons swooping and soaring above our heads, some of the men almost panicked but showed good English resolve after being given an extra rum ration!" Said one able-seaman.
Original reports suggested this maybe an unknown phenomenon whereby two invaders aerial ships engage in battle, however reports from a new group in London suggest otherwise. "It was an attack by the Sadeian Coalition and we have inside information to prove this." These were the words of one Father Zacariah, the head of the now emerging Society of the Heaven Sent, a group in London that some call a dangerous cult and others pure common sense. "At the society, we firmly believe that these "Terrors from the sky" as one newspaper called them, are here for the good of humanity. They are sent from the heavens to punish the sins of man. Wicked sinners like Captain Sadeian and William Percival are our real enemies. Now their craft has destroyed one of the alien ships they skulk safe in India but when the reprisal attack for their actions comes - who will the conflagration fall upon? Us!!!". This reporter could see how, from humble origins, the society has risen to its 300 strong membership from a run down corner of London’s Whitechapel area, Father Zacariah is a charismatically powerful man and the vehemence of his speeches cast no doubt that he is honest, in his own mind at least, of the truth he feels he speaks. So are these men from the skies mysterious benefactors to mankind or are they dangerous invaders intent on the destruction of humanity? This reporter will have to hold off from any final judgement for now, at least until he attends his first meeting at the Society’s headquarters. |
